Sarah Hoberman braving the heat, Paris-style!
Waking up at 5am (OK, I overslept, it was 5:45am) on a Saturday is not something I try to do a lot, but this was far too exciting to miss…
An amazing shoot for Dossier on the ‘farm’ in Tamboerskloof, which I did not even know existed!
The dream team of Marguerite Oelofse (vibing a Madonna-from-the-80’s look with a platinum blonde bob and Wayfarer sunnies), Mari Groenewald (who, ahem, had only had a few hours precious sleep, say no more!), Jade Leggat – oh she of the porcelain skin who braved the 30-something degree heat to create insane hair and make-up, and Sarah The Fantastic, who must be the most organised person on this planet.
We worked ahead of schedule and finished up in time for Marguerite to get the The Met… Nice work everyone!

I didn’t manage to get the whole shoot, but here is the opener of the shoot I styled, produced and wrote for Dossier Magazine on Chloe Townsend of Missibaba.
Very proud of this shoot as I was short of a stylist and landed up doing it myself – no mean feat as I’ve never styled anything but myself before and was just a little bit nervous. It turned out to be a great day, with the fabulous photographer Damon Fourie and make-up artist Jade Leggat transforming the beautiful Lala into a mystical neon bird of paradise.
Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy!

Meet my new right hand woman: Sarah Hoberman, oh she of the impeccable style and Louise Brooks bob. She’ll be helping me on iforone as a regular contributor, as well as on Dossier – my new pet project. And since she’s joining la familia, I thought you should get to know her a little better…
Where did you spend December and what was the highlight?
Mauritius, where I’m from. Highlight was somewhere between spending time with my nephews and the traditional dressing up of my jewish husband as Father Christmas (for the kids, of course).
What’s your summertime wardrobe essential you can’t live without?
One thing…mmm..a wheel-on bag containing an Eres bikini, a loose silk jumpsuit, a Leica m6 and massive “look-at-me-not-wanting-you-to-look-at-me” sunglasses.
Who or what defines your style?
I do… I always wanted to say that! I’d define it as subtle, clean, classic but not obvious. The following people sit on my mind’s Style Council: Alber Elbaz (Creative Head), My husband (Finance Manager), Audrey Toutou (Acting Partner), Lady Gaga (Risk Assesment), Alexa Chung (Junior Assistant), Victoria Beckham (Employee of the Month… underestimate her at your own peril), Tamara Mellon (New Business Consultant), but at the end of the day it’s Karl who reports to me directly
What do you love about living in South Africa?
Everything! (I’ve just returned from London)
What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
Tea (I’ve just returned from London)

A while ago I tweeted about an incredible interview I did with a very interesting man. Here it is – the story I wrote for Dossier on designer Clive Rundle after his epic show at SAFW last year, and the shoot that Mia (editor of Dossier) did with Clive’s favourite model, Nina Milner.

I’m starting off the year on a high note… Yes, I have landed my dream job and as of today am Dossier Magazine’s Cape Town Ed – woop, woop!
What I love about the magazine is that it’s independently published and is put together by a small band of freelancers who only care about creating beautiful pages.
This creative freedom means that the magazine is free of the corporate stranglehold that has watered down editorial vision – turning magazines into formulaic templates of blah blah blah – and as a result, the publication is winning international recognition for its exceptional design and visual dynamism.
True, it’s still small and is far from the distribution channels that international fashion tomes like Another Magazine and LOVE, or POP, have achieved, but the good news is that Dossier is also about to be distributed internationally so for me, it just feels like the best possible place to be right now.
Look out for the magazine (hint, hint: that means please buy it!) and, from it’s March issue, a lot more content from me and other coastal creatives.
We’re busy with the March issue as I write this, and it’s looking freakin’ amazing! xx From a very happy Me.
White Eye December 15th, 2009
![December 2009 054 [640x480] Thankfully Jade has a steady hand!](http://www.ifor1.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/December-2009-054-640x480-500x375.jpg) Thankfully Jade has a steady hand! Last week was mayhem – again, again – when will I get control? Sigh, it seriously is the silly season…
Anyhoo, some fun photos of the latest Dossier shoot for the Feb 2010 issue that we shot at my house with the brilliant, brilliant Dewald Daniels, styled by Mari Groenewald, with Jade Leggat on hair and make-up and the beautiful Kudzani from Boss as our star, especially when she gave us the OK to shave half her hair off!
I’ll post up the finished pages when they are published, so there’s a bit of a wait but I was so happy with the result, I can’t wait to see what the layout looks like.

Wow, check out the exclusive interview and shoot with Dita Von Teese from this month’s Dossier Magazine…
I love the fact that they’ve shot her sans martini glass and fully clothed because it makes such a change from the norm, yet doesn’t detract from the fact that she’s totally smoking hot. And not in a skanky lad-mag kind of way, but in the kind of way that every girl dreams of being. She turns heads for all the right reasons, full-stop.
For more Dita-fabulousness, check out the very cool ‘Be Cointreauversial’ campaign she’s heading up for alcohol brand, Cointreau.

 Moments from our day
Had the most amazing day yesterday – my first stint as stylist, and I was lucky enough to do it for Dossier Magazine, probably the most exciting fashion magazine this country has.
The best thing about it was the creative freedom of the whole experience - I got to choose my subject, write the story, put together the most incredible team (thank you Damon Fourie, Jade Leggat and the lovely Lala from Boss) and then spent the day creating beautiful images of outfits I would kill to wear. Think Jimmy Choo heels, power accessories and the slinkiest of sheaths. Sigh, so dreamy.
Am I happy right now? Hell, yes!
