Ah, I'll have one of those, one of those and yup, one of those!
Wow, this opens up a whole new can of shopping worms…
Launched at Madrid Fashion Week last week, you can now log on to the Yoox shopping portal, watch the latest runway shows, click on the item you want to buy, find out the price as well as what colours and sizes are available and ka-ching, with one more click of the mouse, you’re the proud owner of one times hot-off-the-runway designer item.
I can hear a whole legion of credit cards groaning as plastic burns through cyberspace…

One more reason to shop with ASOS: they also love Africa!
ASOS Africa is a new initiative started to support trade in Africa. It is made up of seven hugely wearable styles (am loving the graphic print jumpsuit) created in collaboration with African artisans and small producers… Nice!

Ooh, very pretty. I like very much – looks good on brunettes too, he he. Get yours from Mungo & Jemima in Long Street.

From Sam, ‘I’m secretly obsessed with Heidi Klum so I was glued to the TV last Friday as the first episode of the sixth series of Project Runway showed on the Series channel.
All my favourites - Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia and the fabulously tanned Michael Kors - are back on the judging panel as well as Lindsay Lohan (interesting choice, say no more!)
Of this season’s talent, I’ll be keeping my eyes on Christopher as well as Shirin Askari and Ra’mon-Lawrence Coleman and can’t wait for next week’s show.
Stay tuned and remember, “In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out!”‘

I am a huge e-bay fan and have bought many gems from the online shopping mecca so was most interested in an email from Andree talking about the newly launched capsule collection designed by Narcisco Rodriguez for e-bay…
‘There is lots of talk going round that this may be the logical future of fashion retail,’ she says. ‘Maybe, maybe not… Depends on the prices I say.’
I agree – and sizing, which I think is every online shopper’s biggest concern. It’s a great idea, however, and a fanstastic way for higher-end designers (many of whom are still behind on the online store concept) to give access to their work to online shoppers. Yay for more options

So sad… A brilliant man and talent. Read style.com’s last interview with Alexander McQueen, that includes the following quote from the designer towards the end of the interivew:
“There is something sinister, something quite biographical about what I do—but that part is for me. It’s my personal business. I think there is a lot of romance, melancholy. There’s a sadness to it, but there’s romance in sadness. I suppose I am a very melancholy person.”
Yes, I hate me too right now!
To Whom It May Concern,
Am currently in Surin Beach, Thailand at one of my oldest, bestest friend’s weddings. Am in a bikini, am drinking cocktails, am lapping up the sunshine and taking photos of cheesy sunsets… Needless to say, this blog will resume on Thursday. Till then! A Very Happy Me
It says, 'Shop shop shop shop shop shop...'
Have been in a flat panic packing so haven’t even had time to blog about the fact that I’m off to Hong Kong today to see my sublime sibling and meet my new niece – yay!
Then I’m off to Phuket to see one of my beste maatjies from Oz get married, happy, happy, happy me.
Will be blogging (no rest for the wicked) throughout and will hopefully have lots to report back so keep reading.
Mwah xx
At last! It’s been a long week. Hellooooo Friday, my friend.
Highlights from my day yesterday:
Finding this Missibaba handbag in this insane taupe leather with gold insets which I love and adore and am going to use as the inspiration for my soon-to-be-ordered Missibaba gem!
Bumping into my friend who was wearing this incredible necklace - given to her by her mother-in-law! It's kind of Clockwork-Orangey and looked just perfect on her.
Discovering the delights of Nicole Richie's House of Harlow range - very cool costume jewellery that has restored my faith in celebrities having any inkling of individual style. Or maybe someone else designed it for her. Shame, that's mean. Either way, I like very much.

She’s had the (mis)fortune of inheriting her mother’s mop of hair and fiesty temper… The two together do not bode well for washing or cutting of hair, which is why Scruff had to come along on this most monumentous of occassions.
Two nervous parents and one brave hairdresser, used to the willful ways of a 2-year old, later, we walked out, looking decidedly cherub-like!

I’m starting off the year on a high note… Yes, I have landed my dream job and as of today am Dossier Magazine’s Cape Town Ed – woop, woop!
What I love about the magazine is that it’s independently published and is put together by a small band of freelancers who only care about creating beautiful pages.
This creative freedom means that the magazine is free of the corporate stranglehold that has watered down editorial vision – turning magazines into formulaic templates of blah blah blah – and as a result, the publication is winning international recognition for its exceptional design and visual dynamism.
True, it’s still small and is far from the distribution channels that international fashion tomes like Another Magazine and LOVE, or POP, have achieved, but the good news is that Dossier is also about to be distributed internationally so for me, it just feels like the best possible place to be right now.
Look out for the magazine (hint, hint: that means please buy it!) and, from it’s March issue, a lot more content from me and other coastal creatives.
We’re busy with the March issue as I write this, and it’s looking freakin’ amazing! xx From a very happy Me.
Can you believe 2009 is almost done? I can’t but I will be a step closer in about 10 seconds time when I close my laptop for the last time this year. It’s Christmas and time to eat, drink and be happy. I’m officially on holiday until the 4th Jan… See you in the new year!!

Since reading the book The Towering World of Jimmy Choo (if you haven’t read it, and are interested in the business of big brands, read it, read it!) I’ve been fascinated by the larger-than-life persona of Tamara Mellon.
Is she just an ambitious society girl who convinced Poppa to buy her a business or is she actually the hot shit she’s been made out to be? I’m a huge fan of the brand, so I’m believing the former, but never mind whether she’s talented or not – the latest news is that she is officially even more loaded after sueing, and winning, acivil lawsuit against her mother.
Yup, you heard right. She sued her mom, Ann Yeardye, for a cool £6 million. The reason: after the sale of the company to Lion Capital in 2004, a percentage of shares that should have gone to Tamara were allocated to her mother instead. Mummy Dearest decided that was cool with her, and when Tamara asked for them back, she basically said, erm, no.
Tamara is quoted on vogue.com as saying, ‘It is with immense sadness that I take this action, but I see no other way to protect my daughter’s interests, which are my paramount concern.’ She adds, ‘I am baffled by my mother’s refusal to return assets which rightfully do not belong to her.’
Not something I suppose you could sort out over a cup of tea and a muffin, then… Just please take note all remaining Mellon and Yeardye family members, this is one tough cookie not to be tangled with.
Vote Now December 9th, 2009

Michael is a (very talented) friend whose short film – ‘Wandering and Wondering’ – has made on to the shortlist for the Louis Vuitton Journey Awards.
He needs your vote before the 14th December – that’s next Monday. Watch the film and if you think it’s worthy, please vote here.
So Tired… December 7th, 2009
The reason for today’s MIA status… Sorry, v. tired. Only feeling human (ha ha, geddit?) now. Brilliant concert – too much yumping around and my poor legs are semi-crippled but am strangely happy about it.
Brrrrr December 3rd, 2009

Numerous friends of mine are obsessed – yes, literally bunny-boiler-status obsessed (you know who you are…) with Anthropologie .
Not that I blame them. It is pretty freakin’ amazing and I spent hours in there when I was last in the Big Smoke of NYC, so when Juliet in London sent me this photo of the window of their brand, spanking new Regent Street store, I had to share the love.
According to their website, the shop is “three-floors with an atrium-like staircase, restored turn-of-the-century cornicing and a 1500 sq. ft. living wall made of 14,000 plants.”
Okaaay then, is it me or is that just a little bit creepy? If you’re in London, check it out and please report back.
It’s official: the new section of the Cape Quarter shopping centre in GreenPoint is the place to be on a sunny Friday afternoon.

I meandered around there last Friday and couldn’t believe how buzzy it was with tourists, shoppers and business people escaping work for an early (long) lunch.
 So tempting...
I popped in to the new addition to the Nap Living family and so badly wanted to buy these charcoal and white felt throws, but hunger overtook all other urges so I happily sat down to a roasted tomoato tart tartin and homemade iced tea.
Food shop food shop food shop... Food!
Yum!
Mmnn November 27th, 2009
The non-cover... what a relief for all those tired celebs!
So apparently a new indie title, Twin, just launched in the UK – produced by Becky Smith, Lula’s former founder and creative director.
It’s promoted as a ‘book’ rather than a magazine and will be published bi-annually, targeting an edgier Lula girl, and lining up contributors like Garance Doré and Todd Selby – interesting…
And so the world turns. Slowly. Slowly. Nevertheless, it turns.
I’m sure it’ll take a few months to get to deepest, darkest Africa but yes, am excited to see it.

So one morning a guy called Jens Werner – who lives in Larvik, Norway, woke up and thought, ‘Mmn, what should I do today? I know, let’s paint the house in Burberry check’. I mean isn’t that something that all of us have considered?
No?
Oh…
Well then I guess it is as ridiculous as it looks.
Read the Telegraph UK article for the full story…
OK so I know I’m a little late with this since the Jimmy Choo collection for H&M launched last Saturday but it’s been a tough week, OK, and I just haven’t had time to go find the clip.
Anyhoo, without further adoo, here it is – the bun fight to end all bun fights. People, like, slept there overnight. Seriously. I would never do that. I don’t think…
 The Next Big Thing
I’m sorry, I heard about this and thought it was too priceless to keep all to myself.
May I present: The Neck Cooler.
WTF??
The promo flyer says it was designed for people with no aircon in their cars, for women experiencing hot flushes, for people attending sporting events and for hot, sweaty days when you’re holidaying at the beach…
It doesn’t specify how it works exactly, but I’m thinking it must have a gel thing in the neck piece that you put in the freezer and then wear. My question is, is it drip-dry and why did they sacrifice a set of Mom’s old curtains making this confusing contraption?
Of course, you might love it. You might love it so much you decide to order a whole bunch and brand them with your logo for this year’s office Christmas gift.
Thank gawd I work freelance.
