Am loving Steven Meisel’s Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign for Louis Vuitton, featuring a Bardot-esque Lara Stone as the replacement for Madonna – who represented LV for three consecutive seasons – as the face of the brand.
It’s fantastic to see a turn away from the celeb-endorsement craze of the past decade: Lara’s a big-enough name to carry a campaign of this weight, and Creative Director Marc Jacobs is quoted as saying, ‘…we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty… It had to be Lara Stone.”
Now I know they’ve made her up to resemble a sex-kitten icon from the ’60’s but still, it’s a brave move for a brand that has only used A-list celebrities for the past few years.
Now please may Madge and her entourage retreat quietly to the corner and stay there.
