So I popped in to Phillipa Green’s studio on Friday and fell in love with the new perspex cuffs she’s making which feature a beautiful crocheted flower on top.
They look amazing on the arm and are available in a soft neutral and black – making it easy to wear with just about anything.
Even better, the flowers are crocheted by women at a community craft project so by buying one, you’re helping to uplift and empower.

Can Winter just arrive already? As a lover of coats and a sweaty Capetonian who is tired of slowly melting in the current heat wave, the idea of cold, crisp mornings and rugging up in a to-die-for cosy coat is seriously appealling.
Of course if that coat was designed by one Phoebe Philo for Celine I would be even happier.
Ms Philo is cleaning up the fashion front row with her collection for the fashion house and you can see why: she’s given the brand a sophisticated edge that is at once easy to wear and instantly chic. This is an investment buy you’d wear forever then hand down to your daughter…
Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil took this photo at Milan Fashion Week… Check out the very cool selection of his images at Paris Fashion Week posted on Style.com

Meet iforone’s latest contributor, Vicki Sleet, who I have affectionately known as Vixen for many, many years. She is a long-time friend and, as an afficianado of all things bright and beautiful for the home, she has kindly accepted my offer to do a weekly decor round up.
Look out for her posts every Friday on ifor1, but if you can’t wait a week for her pearls of wisdom, check out her wondrous new blog I Want That.
PS. I’m writing a weekly Fashion Fix Friday post for her blog, so you can’t get away from me that easily. Moohahhahaha…

I’m not so sure I agree with the description of Valdimir Tseler’s Living Chair as being ’sexy, yet demure’. Inspired by the female form and available in pink or red, it’s all a bit kitch for me, but I’m open to debate on this one!
Ah, I'll have one of those, one of those and yup, one of those!
Wow, this opens up a whole new can of shopping worms…
Launched at Madrid Fashion Week last week, you can now log on to the Yoox shopping portal, watch the latest runway shows, click on the item you want to buy, find out the price as well as what colours and sizes are available and ka-ching, with one more click of the mouse, you’re the proud owner of one times hot-off-the-runway designer item.
I can hear a whole legion of credit cards groaning as plastic burns through cyberspace…
From Sarah Dickson of Shop-Label who is in Paris at the moment after a whirlwind trip through London,
“Morning! Had to mail these photos to you of the amazing scarf that Liz, who is Sales Manager for Sass & Bide, was wearing from Tim Ryan. I love it and she looks amazing!”
 Liz and her lovely scarf
His knitwear is also for sale at Browns, which doesn’t seem to ship to SA, boo hoo!, but go have a look anyway…
Designer Clive Rundle is in Paris at the moment prepping to show his collection at Fashion Week at the African Collective put on by Arise Magazine.
His capsule collection of five garments is being show alongside those by Kluk CGDT, David Tlale and Lunar from South Africa, MOMO, Eyola, Tiffany Amber and Jewel by Lisa from Nigeria, Eric Raisina from Madagascar and Christie Brown from Ghana.
I asked Clive to send me some photos and how he’s feeling right now and this is what he said: ”Fashion is not fun its hard work… Every single detail requires concentration, effort and a relentless pursuit of the vision. So avoid anyone who is suggesting you are having fun! Love Clive”
Well, if, like me, you’re over work on this Friday, then get involved in even more work avoidance by checking out the cool street styles snapped in Paris by Refinery 29’s Mr. Newton.

Have a gander at the unbelievably slick abode of my friend Luanne, as it appears in this month’s House & Leisure.
Everytime I walk in to this sexy space, I get an overwhelming urge to paint every wall in my house white, stain the floors dark and import some of Lulu and her man Jonny’s imagination and magic. They be two very clever creatives.

If you like what you see, then buy this month’s issue of House & Leisure that deals specifically with giving small spaces more soul.

Hello lovely ifor1 readers!
Justine has kindly asked me to write a décor inspired post for you every Friday and I’m only too happy to comply. Here’s my first piece of décor and design candy for you.
xx Vicki, I Want That
One of my favourite purveyors of gorgeous pieces for the home is the ever-interesting Imagenius on Cape Town’s trendy Long Street. It’s an emporium of inspiration, a destination for design and a stopover for those days when you need a visual pick-me-up.
All I see are little signs saying 'Buy me! Buy me!'
Owner Jacqui Hunter fills her space with quirky finds from here and abroad (top tip: she stocks Tord Boontje products!), commissions can’t-live-without products (like beautiful leather purses and bags) and scouts out local jewellers, artists and ceramists to do her store proud.
You’ll also find a fab selection of weird and wonderful trinkets like windup robots, miniature brides and grooms and notebooks and paper products to satisfy your inner stationery slut.
These are a few of the things that have recently caught my eye at Imagenius.

Everyone needs a robot in their lives, don’t you think? The mirror ball is to inspire me to disco up my life, the suitcase-chair gives armchair travel new meaning (and I have the perfect little corner of my bedroom in mind for it) and the Tord Boontje vase is just another product from this Dutch design genius that I really, really want.
Find Imagenius at 117 Long Street, 021-423 7870.
 Dazed & Confused
So I thought this was pretty novel: Swatch have asked AnOther Magazine, Dazed & Confused, V, i-D, Nylon and Wallpaper to compete with one another by shooting their latest range, the 80s inspired Colour Codes Collection, as and how they want.
Visitors to the magazines’ websites then vote for their favourite shoot and stand the chance of winning a watch… Exposure across six brands in a fun, visually creative and digitally interactive way. Clever Swatch! I voted for Dazed&Confused’s effort – will keep you posted if I win the watch! To see all the magazine shoots and to cast your vote, click here

Like me, photographer Steven Jones is obsessed with shoes and collaborated with bespoke shoe-designer, Hetty Jones, on his latest pin-hole camera exhibition entitled ‘Pinhole Shoes’ that is showing in the Shoe Boutique (2nd floor) of Liberty, London.
If you’re in the big smoke, go check it out. If you’re stuck down south, then read the interview with the photographer on Dazed Digital.

 Cute, huh?
Spotted at the Design Indaba last week, just after posting about the new range of feather fascinators by Louise Park Ross, now available at Mungo & Jemima…
This time it was “Mondrian: From Naturalism to Abstraction,” but at least the TV was finally on. (Photo: Chad Holder; Dwell, April/May 2005)
I love this! The blog is called Unhappy Hipsters, is written anonymously and sums up the power a witty caption can yield over an image. Check it out for a good giggle…

One more reason to shop with ASOS: they also love Africa!
ASOS Africa is a new initiative started to support trade in Africa. It is made up of seven hugely wearable styles (am loving the graphic print jumpsuit) created in collaboration with African artisans and small producers… Nice!
 sssnakily sexy
From Sarah, ‘I stumbled upon the Alexandra del Lago boutique in Cape Quarter and had to stop myself from whipping out my credit card and going wild!
Their handbags and cuffs are made out of buttery soft python with intricate embroidery of large semi-precious stones like citrines, turquoises, green jaspers and amethysts all artfully intertwined with gold and silver butterflies and dragon flies.
Prices range from R2100 for the cuffs and between R5000 – R7000 for the bags. I want, I want, I want!’

If I could imagine my ultimate workspace and then dream it into reality, it would have to be the Visionaire offices in New York. Check out this shoot of the space by Todd Selby, of cult interiors photography blog theselby, who photographed co-founder and editor of the magazine, Cecilia Dean, in her happy place. Lucky girl.

 How low can you go?
From Sam, “The kitten heel comeback? Nooo, say it isn’t so! Who wants practical when you can have sexy, sky-high, and utterly impractical stilettos.
Seen on the runways at Givenchy, Marni, Missoni and Louis Vuitton, to name a few, as well as being the shoe of choice for stylish First Lady, Michelle Obama, it seems the lower counterpart is back in protest against the decadent highs we’ve all enjoyed these past few years and as a fashion indicator of the recession-weary years to follow.
Take heart that at least here in the south, we get one more season to enjoy the view from above before summer 2010 forces us down to earth!”

So here’s a pretty cool comparison: about a year ago, I bought this black birdie wall vinyl from a UK website and paid close to R1000 for it – and that’s without shipping costs.
 a zen moment
The great news is that that same vinyl and others, like the beautiful organic pattern one I’ve just stuck up on my newly-painted bathroom wall, are now available locally from MyWallTattoos, and the even better news is they’re much more budget friendly! This one, which at 1m x 1m is lovely and big, was only R520 – I think that’s seriously good value.
You can choose your size (small, medium, large) and colour and even though Scruff wasn’t convinced of the silver on grey, once he saw the beautifully muted end-result, he admitted it was ‘very subtle’, ha!
So here are a few of my favourite things from the Design Indaba expos that was at once awe-inspiring and completely overwhelming – so many ideas, talent, people and incredible things happening… What an amazing showcase of African talent!
Ikonik illustrated lockers from Raw Design

Birdman by Dr Michaella Janse van Vuuren
Her work is truly amazing! Find out more here
The Big Bunny armchair by Casamento
The brilliant Casamento is well worth a look, find them here
Paper dresses from Antoinette Cloete Nel
 Sculpted vessels from Louise Gelderblom
As for Louise Gelderblom’s work, well, I have no words. Told Scruff I would die right now to own one particular LG piece and he told me that considering how dear they are, I might have to consider my own imminent demise. Doh!
 Ooh, lucky her!
Sarah Dickson from Shop-Label has picked a ramdom name from a hat and the lucky winner of the J Brand jeggings is Amber Jones… Well done!
Shark! March 1st, 2010

Maybe I don’t walk around Cape Town enough but on my meander from the parking garage I finally managed to find a park in before trekking over to the CTICC in the 33 degree heat (no, I’m not moaning, ok I am) I happened upon these prehistoric-looking sharkie windmill type sculpture thingies.
I’m sure some people may have seen them before but I haven’t and I have to say, as a girl who surfs and has the utmost respect for toe-nibbling bad boys from the deep, I thought they were beautiful to look at and a very cool piece of art to find in the middle of the city .

 Well hello there good looking...
So here is the man himself, Mr Baba Papa by Haldane Martin, lounging around at the Design Indaba Expo looking exceptionally slick. Was so pleased to see him I was most tempted to do exactly what his comfysexy design demands - lie down and let him just hold you…
 Good from every angle
